The Asian Cricket Council has decided to hold further discussions on the hosting of the Asia Cup cricket tournament to be held in August-September this year and take the final decision at the executive committee meeting to be held in March.

Several officials including the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket Association Shammi Silva, and Secretary Mohan de Silva also participated in the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Asian Cricket Council.

Although this year’s Asia Cup cricket tournament is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan, a crisis has been created regarding the hosting of the tournament after the Indian Cricket Board announced that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan for the tournament.

Pakistan has warned that they will not participate in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India if India does not participate in the Asia Cup 2023.

It is also reported that if this year’s Asian Cup cannot be held in Pakistan, it will be held in the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh with Pakistan as the host.
